Stu-Art Supplies has been serving the art community for more than 50 years. We are a second generation family business which strives to provide our customers quality products at the most reasonable prices. Our manufacturing facility is located in Baldwin, NY and we have been shipping our products throughout the US and Canada since 1965. Our business was developed to help both professional and amateur artists, photographers, students & hobbyists mat and frame their artwork themselves thereby saving them the cost of having to get their mats and frames from a custom frame shop or struggle with the difficulty and frustration of trying to cut their own mats. Our product line offers artists, photographers and art & craft hobbyists a way to frame, mat and display their artwork in an aesthetically pleasing manner at the lowest possible cost.

Mats

Stu-Art Supplies offers a wide variety of matting options for artist's watercolor paintings, prints, drawings, & photographs. Our three main beveled edge mat series, allow our customers to choose the appropriate matting to match their specific needs. Our Economy mat series is our most economical way to mat your artwork. These mats are beveled cut from mat board buffered to a neutral ph, however, they are not considered archival. Our stock mats are available in the most popular watercolor, print, and photographic sizes. Economy mats can be custom cut mats to your exact specifications as well. For those customers who would prefer to mat their artwork to archival standards, we also offer mats cut from archival quality mat board and 100% cotton 4ply museum board.

Our Archival Series mats are cut from Artique conservation quality alpha-cellulose mat board. This mat board is acid and lignin free and cut with white pristine bevels. The Archival mat series are available in a wide range of colors from classic neutrals to vibrant colors. Our Museum Mats are cut from Bainbridge 4 ply 100% cotton rag museum board. Museum mats feature a solid consistent color through to the core and is the highest quality mat board you can select for fine art and photo matting. Both Archival & Museum mats are available in standard sizes or may be custom cut to your specifications at no additional charge. Discounts start at 12 mats, with even larger volume discounts for quantities of 25 or more identical mats. We also can cut multiple opening mats to your specifications.

All of our mats are cut in our Baldwin, NY facility from mat board made in the USA. This allows us to oversee your order from the moment it is placed up until the moment is ships. Our goal is provide our customers with the highest quality product, and excellent customer service.

 

Backing Boards

In addition to mats, we offer a variety of backing board options that range from our economy backing, boards to regular and archival foam board as well as museum board backs which all can be cut to size.

 

 

Clear-As-Glass Bags

Our Clear As Glass Bags are the perfect way to protect and display your artwork. These polypropylene bags are crystal clear, 1.6 mil thick with an adhesive strip on the flap of the bag. Just insert your artwork, peel off the adhesive cover strip and fold over the flap to the bag. The bags are approximately 1/2" wide and 1/4" longer to allow for easy insertion of your artwork.

 

 

Frames

We are proud to offer Nielsen aluminum frame sections which are still made in the USA. For over 30 years Nielsen has set the standard of excellence for the framing industry. They pride themselves on quality, innovation and customer satisfaction. Their innovative designs and finishes in metal mouldings provide the customer with design solutions that work with today’s as well as tomorrow’s framing styles. We offer 10 of Nielsen’s most popular profiles in a variety of colors and finishes. Frame sections are cut to size, and can be cut to a fraction of an inch.

 

 

Acrylic panels

These panels are a lightweight, shatter resistant alternative to glass. They are available in either clear or non-glare panels in .060 thickness and in .100 for use on larger pieces. Panels are available in standard sizes or we can cut them to the exact size needed.

 

 

Framing supplies

Stu-Art Supplies offers a wide array of framing supplies ranging from archival paper and linen hinging tapes, and photo mounting corners made by Lineco, ATG tape and ATG guns by 3M, 3M bumpons, point drivers and framers points by Fletcher as well as many other supplies you may need when matting and framing your artwork.
